dressCode at Digit Expo
What an incredible day at #DigitExpo24 yesterday! A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by our stand and took the time to chat with us.
This was the very first time dressCodeHQ has had an exhibition stand, and I’m so proud that DIGIT.FYI ,
Scotland's largest tech showcase, was our debut! Last year, I attended as a speaker, and it was such a different but equally rewarding experience to be there as an exhibitor this year. A massive thank you to Ray Bugg and the amazing team for organising such a fantastic event.
The atmosphere was buzzing with energy, enthusiasm, and the shared passion for the tech sector. A big shout out to the two brilliant individuals who helped hand out a big bundle of our #ScottishTechStories cards – I wish I’d caught your names because you truly made our day!
If you’d like to sign up and share your #ScottishTechStories, you can do so here:https://www.dresscode.org.uk/scottish-tech-role-modelsOur first goal is to reach 500 submissions, and any help with this would be amazing!
I couldn’t have asked for better champions of dressCode than Rachel Sim, Christina McLean, and Amina Tahir you are all amazing. A big shout out to Livingston James and Alistair Shaw for your support. It was particularly special to have Amina join us – she was not only a mentor for a dressCode club when she was in school but also one of dressCode's original multi-award-winning Turing's Testers. You all made the day so much fun, and I’m so grateful for your support!
It was wonderful to see so many lovely friendly faces, including Jude McCorry, Rachael Neil MCIPD, Silka Patel, Kraig T Brown, Brian Baglow, Martyn Wallace, Graeme Gordon, and ex-pupil Christopher Bell, proud of you Chris! It was great to make so many new connections and meet so many brilliant individuals in person for the first time, including Nick Freer, Sharon Wallace, Jenny Björkman and the incredible Aba-Sah Dadzie.
Aba-Sah is an absolute superhero and the powerhouse behind the Computing Science Landscape Project with the Scottish Tech Army. For anyone curious about the history of Computing Science in schools since its introduction in 1986—compared with other traditional STEM subjects in areas like uptake, gender gap, teacher numbers, and age demographics—you’ll find it fascinating! It was amazing to thank Aba-Sah in person for all her hard work. You can explore the project here: https://lnkd.in/eqauQqDX
Here’s to continuing the momentum and inspiring the next generation of tech talent! If you know anyone in the tech sector or someone studying tech please help spread the word about #ScottishTechStories https://www.dresscode.org.uk/scottish-tech-role-models
